Our Infrastructure Projects
Agiru Centre Refurbishment
The Agiru Centre, the provincial administration headquarters, is undergoing refurbishment by a contractor. Once completed, it will provide office space for the government, provincial administration, and development partners. This upgrade aims to improve service delivery, coordination, and governance for the Southern Highlands Province.
Mendi Valley Plaza Refurbishment
The Mendi Valley Plaza is being refurbished to host banks, the Internal Revenue Commission, Investment Promotion Authority, Motor Vehicle Insurance, and other essential departments. This upgrade will improve service accessibility and support economic growth in the Southern Highlands Province.
Muruk Lodge Refurbishment
The Muruk Lodge is undergoing refurbishment as a key business arm of the provincial government. This upgrade will enhance its facilities, providing a better environment for business operations, tourism, and contributing to the economic development of Southern Highlands Province.
MENDI TOWN ROADS
Efforts are underway to give Mendi Town a facelift through road construction and infrastructure upgrades. These improvements aim to enhance the town’s appearance, boost local businesses, and provide better services for residents and visitors.
MURUKS STADIUM
Muruks Stadium, located in Tente, is currently under construction as the home ground for the Mendi Muruks, our provincial football team. The new stadium will provide a better venue for local sports events and support sports development in Southern Highlands.
MENDIMANDA BRIDGE
The Mendimanda Bridge is being constructed to provide access to the proposed Mendi General Hospital. This bridge will improve transportation to the hospital, ensuring better healthcare services and easy access for patients and the community in the Southern Highlands.
OLD COMPOUND REDEVELOPMENT
The old compound houses, which were burned during the election unrest, are currently under development for resettlement. This initiative aims to provide new homes for the affected settlers and restore stability to the community in the Southern Highlands.
Oiyarep Stadium
Oiyarep Stadium is under construction to host track and field events in preparation for the PNG Games 2025. The new facility will provide a modern venue for athletes and support sports development in the province.
